A café, restaurant and natural wine bar set within Hastings Contemporary gallery in the heart of Hastings Old Town

We are a restaurant and café bar set within the iconic Hastings Contemporary gallery in Hastings Old Town, run by the team behind restaurant and wine bar Farmyard in St Leonards.

We have a stunning view, being lucky enough to directly overlook the historic Hastings Old Town fishing fleet on the beach next to us – the Boatyard, if you will.

We serve brunch, lunch, coffees and natural wine daily from Tuesdays to Sundays, 11am-5pm.

Alongside as-fresh-as-it-comes Hastings fish, landed a stone’s throw away and brought straight to the kitchen, plant-based dishes reign supreme, showing-off the bountiful harvest that Sussex and Kent has to offer. Sea and Shoots.

Decadent brunches are served into the late afternoon on Saturdays and Sundays with everything from Kippers and Kedgeree alongside oysters, constantly-changing specials, fresh juices, Bloody Marys, Espresso Martinis and the option of free-flowing fizz.

Our drinks list is built around wines that are biodynamic, natural and low-intervention, with several wines, craft beers and cocktails served on tap – minimising the environmental impact of excess bottles and transport. This is just one of the ways we take sustainability seriously: ethical and eco-friendly are at Boatyard’s core.

Access to Boatyard is free for all Hastings Contemporary members, who can each bring up to three guests, and starts at just £27 per year (that’s £2.25 a month – less than the price of one of our delicious locally-roasted coffees).

Find out more about membership and its perks here, plus admission fees.

We also hold regular supper clubs and events – watch this space – and can be hired for private events with a stunning view. These don’t require any kind of membership or entrance fee.

We hope to see you soon.
